London in bloom: RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2019 highlights

Dear Reader,

The last month of the spring is cherished and awaited for many due to several reasons. May is rich in the color spectrum, loved for comfortable and warm temperature, short nights and long days, and blooming flowers, trees and plants. That combination awakens and inspires us for multiple outdoor activities, nature exploration, gardening, and other scenery related doings. Moreover, if you are in London at this moment or deciding where to travel next week, I would highly suggest coming to Chelsea, West London, for the next week May 21st – May 25th. I believe, it is one of the world’s beautiful places, indeed, to be at with the family, friends or/and alone. Chelsea is looking prettier than ever right now. Other than visiting the world’s leading horticultural event, the Chelsea Flower Show, you should definitely take time to tour Chelsea and its surrounding areas for more floral delights.

Formally known as the ‘Great Spring Show’or also known as Chelsea in Bloom held since 1912 for 5 days in May- it is a garden show that is produced by Cadogan in association with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), and sees breathtaking floral displays from retailers, restaurants and hotels throughout the duration of the Chelsea Flower Show. Today, it is definitely the most famous flower and landscape gardens show in the United States and, perhaps, in the world).

This year, the Chelsea Flower Show is in great demand! Mostly all tickets have been sold in advance. This is due to the gigantic preparation and involvement of Kate Middleton in garden design debut. Although, the world’s most prestigious flower show was always supported by the Royal family and Queen Elizabeth the II is the key guest of all the shows. This year the new offspring of the royal family as Duchess of Cambridge and co-designers’- landscape architects Andrée Davies and Adam White of Davies White will unveil their cooperation of highly-anticipated garden. The idea of the design was inspired by Duchess childhood memories and triggered by the natural world. The purpose of designing and building the garden was ‘to highlight how being active in nature can positively impact our physical and mental health. The garden has a natural woodland feel and contains lots of unique design features to inspire families to get outside and explore nature together. This, true and beautiful idea of unity with nature is highly supported by the UK population and I can just add that I have never seen so many people here before.

Highlights to the Chelsea Flower Show include the avant-garde show gardens designed by leading names with Floral Marquee at the centerpiece. The Show also features smaller gardens such as the Artisan and Urban Gardens. Nature is the key element and sustainability is the core value of any design. You can pick 3-5 or all the shows to see:

In THE GREAT PAVILION

  • The Great Pavilion showcases thousands of immaculate plant varieties from around the world
  • David Austin Roses will unveil two new English Rose varieties at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show

My 10 days detox in Bad Ems! The best place in Europe to balance your body & spirit.

Dear Reader,

Hoping to overcome sleep disorder, traveling stress and return to my “before” winter weight I ventured to the authentic Ayurveda medical and spa center in Germany. Maharishi Ayurveda Health Centre is located in Bad Ems. It is highly respectable and the only recognized best Ayurveda Clinic in Europe. Being “imperfect” human beings, my friend and I have decided to try a minimum of 10 days detox program.

You can get to Bad Ems either flying to Cologne or Frankfurt am Mein and from those cities, it will take you about an hour drive to get to the place. This small cozy town is very welcoming and there are elevators leading to the forest where the walking trails can be found. However, the weather was not in our favor during our stay and the temperature was pretty cold for long walks.

After we arrived in the hotel Hackers Grand Hotel Bad Ems, that has to be ordered separately, we ate at the local restaurant and the next day in the morning went for a personal appointment with the doctor. Firstly, the pulse was taken for determination of the main dosha that is responsible for all processes in the body. There are 3 types of doshas: vata, pita and kafa. They are essential for all processes in the body: assimilation, maintenance of health, formation, and disintegration of tissues, elimination of decay products, mental states, emotions: fear, anger, greed, understanding, love empathy and others. So based on our individual nature the procedures were assigned.

The core of our daily food would be vegetables. All food will be prepared on oils and each procedure started with “abyanki”. Breakfast, that I have skipped, consisted of porridge and soaked dried fruits. Before every lunch, we would get something sweet due to the belief that the brain will receive a message of glucose income and become less hungry. Mainly choice of rice and quinoa. Dinner was served usually with soups. Here we would also get a menu for the next day.  In case of hunger we were allowed to eat crisp bread.

Throughout the day we would have to drink very hot water. In addition, when prescribed by the doctor, you should be waiting at the door with a thermos for “Am Pachan” at 7 AM. Here you will be served a special cleansing drink and maybe ghee.  However, the absence of a standard waiting room for procedures caused a lot of inconveniences: only 2 chairs available and constant wind discomfort contributed to catching a cold.

As I have mentioned in the beginning, the minimum stay is 10 days. You should be prepared after the 5th day you will be given castor oil and it will become your laxative day). One day after you will be prescribed another 3 enemas. In addition, after a week (7 days) you will receive extra enemas, they call them “basti”, the first one is oily, the second is strong antitoxins and the third one is oily again. The oil will continue working for another 10 days and it is essential to keep the diet for another 2 weeks at least. That will accelerate the weight loss process. We were also given a bunch of vitamins to take as the diet supplementary.

As a result, my friend and I lost 3 kg (about 6 pounds) each. However, I was not able to conquer my sleeping disorder, but there more still to come. Moreover, authentic Ayurveda treatments in Germany with emphasis on high-class Panchakarma-treatment was a great experience overall. Do detox, stay tuned, be happy)!

New York, New York, every time new!

Dear Reader,

Being a true New Yorker for many years I have moved last year and now when coming back I realize how much I miss its spirit. New York is never boring and every time new! It is a city of enormous life energy and change, the place where past, present, and future are integrated into a reality that is so loved by many. Young generations fall in love with NY from the first time and nearly everyone, who I met dreams to come here for the first time or again in the future. In fact, once you see NY, they want to return again and again will be born in your heart.

This time I have not been in NY for more than 3 months and there are 2 things that truly amazed me. The first object is an amazing Hudson Yards real estate development that was completed in the mid March of this year. I have heard that it is one of the biggest creations in last 80 years in New York after the Rockefellers Center and its total construction was estimated at $25 billion. According to Stephen Ross, the main developer of this colossal project, it is – “A museum of architecture with a whole new way of life with everything you want at your doorstep”.

Interesting facts about Hudson Yards: it was built above the Metropolitan Transportation Authority rail yards on the West Side of Manhattan; it consists of 2 office towers and multiple shopping malls, restaurants with famous cooks and other dining facilities, hotels, apartments and residential building with separate entries for wealthy and average income renters. The main attractions of the architectural composition are Shed and the Vessel. The first one is the arts center that was sponsored by the city for half a billion and the second is of unusual space form 2,500 climbable and 150 foot-high structure that was built for $200 million.

Another outstanding spectrum of NY is its cultural power.  Signing up and purchasing the tickets for the art exhibition was just enough to appear on the waitlist. Jean-Michel Basquiat, a mix of Haitian and Puerto Rican heritage was born in NY in the 60s. Jean started his artist adventure from the graffiti. Further, his energetic paintings full of black cultural heroes with distinctive visual language gained him professional art recognition during the 80th. An outstanding fact is that the exhibition started on March 6th – May 15th, however, everything was sold out. To me, this high demand for arts represents the rebirth of cultural values.

For the New Yorkers this solo exhibition of Jean-Michel Basquiat adds a great value to the cultural heritage. The celebration of origin and in the memory of artist the new space has been chosen carefully. It is located at 421 East 6th Street and occupies a century-old building that in the past served as the home and studio of famed artist Walter De Maria from the mid-1980s until his death in 2013. Richard Gluckman of Gluckman Tang Architects is working on renovation to create a 16,000-square-foot building that features 7,000 square feet of exhibition space arrayed across four floors. The project includes two new gardens adjacent to the structure and a landscaped roof terrace.

The exhibition is organized in collaboration with the Foundation Louis Vuitton and coordinated by Brant Foundation founder Peter M. Brant and Dr. Dieter Buchhart. They brought together Basquiat’s most important masterworks from the Brant Collections as well as from international museums and private collections to this exhibition. Dr. Buchhart says, “The retrospective will show Basquiat as a resolutely contemporary artist who created a foretaste of our Internet society by using cut-and-paste sampling from his surroundings.  With the astonishing radicalness of his artistic practice, Basquiat renewed the concept of art with enduring impact.”  According to the Brant Foundation: “Basquiat has been a cornerstone of the East Village art scene for decades, and to bring his work back to the neighborhood that inspired it is a great privilege,” says Brant. “Our family is thrilled to launch The Brant Foundation’s New York space with an artist who is central to the collection, and above all to share his legacy with the community that was fundamental in shaping it.”

I personally was amazed by this “surrealistic” approach of Basquiat and spent a lot of time with my friends figuring the motives, questioning the meaning and enjoying the “comic” art of Jean-Michel. I would highly recommend you to visit both attractions in NY, that will change your mind and give you a room to dream about the space. Be happy, travel the world, love yourself!

Automotive Haute Couture -Bugatti La voiture noir debut in Geneva

Dear Reader,

In the 89th Geneva International Motor Show hosted from March 5-15th, 2019 at Palexpo in Geneva was hot! Representation of the future preserving the history reflected in representation of 157 World and European Premiers. Based on the official website of the exhibition more than 660 000 visitors registered for the 11 days event and more than 900 cars were exposed.

However, Bugatti has been definitely the headliner this year again. Italian artist family brand managed to differentiate themselves from others mainly with business and technical background. The artistic approach to design mixed with technical innovation formed the comparative advantage and Bugatti icon. The well-known slogan “Art, Forme, Technique” is the core of the company’s philosophy and success.  The company was formed 110 years ago in Molsheim (Alsace, France), where it is still placed today. In 1998 Bugatti joined the Volkswagen Group and has about 300 employers. Similar success it had at the 86th IGMS when presenting Bugatti Chiron and at the 88th by coming up with an advanced version of Chiron Sport. Limited addition of 500 is available at the company’s headquarters in Molsheim.

Long awaited creation was presented on the March 5th La Voiture Noire the most expensive new car Ever. These luxury customized “toy” seem too expensive to have and impossible to take the eyes from. The technology and advancements went so far that it looks just perfect! The full-width LED brake light strip makes the unique hypercar seem wider than it already is and just below illumination sign of “Bugatti” reminds you what you’re looking at. At the front, the horseshoe grille is more pronounced than ever before and above it the sleek LED headlights extend on top of the wheel arches. Handcrafted carbon fiber body reminds of the special Divo model but is of the exclusively new level. Moreover, it has the same quad-turbo W16 8.0-liter engine with 1,500 horsepower and 1,600 Newton-meters (1,180 pound-feet) of torque as the Chiron, Chiron Sport, and Divo.

La Voiture Noire – is the reminiscence of the icon and the reflection of pioneering spirit, passion for perfection and proof of redefined limits. In the past, those values were embraced in Type 57 SC Atlantic – pure elegance and sophistication. According to professionals, La Voiture Noire is a modern interpretation of Jean Bugatti’s (eldest son of the founder Ettore Bugatti) personal type 57 SC Atlantic that got lost during the World War II – today is the most expensive car ever sold! The president of Bugatti, Stephan Winkelmann said that the car was sold to “Bugatti enthusiast” for $18.68M (including taxes). The mystery of the premier that no one could see the interior of the car. It is hidden in the official gallery too. There is an assumption based on the price that the cabin has considerable changes compared to Chiron and Divo. It is obvious, BUGATTI is bringing the speed, technology, luxury and aesthetics of an icon into a new era. However, it is better one time to see that 100 times to hear. Enjoy the video and the photos of a manifesto of the BUGATTI aesthetic and a piece of automotive haute couture!

Paris: Haute Couture 2019 & unknown brands

Dear Reader,

As usual, the new cycle of the entire fashion-industry started in the heart of style – Paris. High Fashion Week of Spring/Summer 2019 season took place from the 21st till the 24th of January. This “holy fashion event” is organized by Parisian High Fashion Syndicate. It is held twice a year in the four last days of January and July. High fashion Week (HFW) is the top level in the fashion industry. It is one of the mostly desired events of the celebrities, designers, influencers, brands and fashion lovers.

The remarkable fact of HFW is that about 70% of representations are made by hand and models are sewn in one piece only.  The average cost per piece is several hundred thousand American dollars. Therefore the haute couture collections find their owners mainly among the brightest stars and/or the richest population of the modern world.

Moreover, the most famous fashion houses and best designers represent their collections here. Being a regular guest and true fan of the fashion, I wanted to switch the attention and introduce so-called “new names”. Those brands have already received significant recognition, rewards and loyal customers.

On the 21st of January Flora Miranda from Antwerp has raised the question about the future of technology in beauty and fashion. Intelligent machines as the basis of modern production process. Demonstration of the Deep Web collection dedicated to the idea of “learning machines”. It was combined with an informational presentation by Swiss artist Simone C. Niquille and moderated by American internet artist Signe Pierce. This unusual and thorough work was a pleasure to see.

Celia Kritharioti (Celia Kritharioti) is a fashion designer from Athens and the owner of the oldest Greek fashion house founded in 1906. On January 22, Celia presented her new immaculate spring/summer collection. Magical attraction of her show was a distinctive feature of dresses created by the designer. Among the muses of the brand were Claudia Schiffer, Leticia Casta and Natalia Vodianova.

On January 23 for the first time in Paris the show of the Spanish brand Yolancris took place. Yolancris was founded in 2005 by sisters Yolanda and Kristina. The brand specializes in wedding and evening dresses and is represented in more than 30 countries around the world. Know singers Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, Shakira, Lady Gaga, as well as bridesmaids: Chloe Kardashian, Courtney Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner at the wedding at Kim Kardashian and Kanye managed to “light up” in Yolancris.

To end up, I just wanted to share with you that the duration of the catwalks lasts no longer than 30 minutes. The preparation that takes months and sometimes years passes by models so fast that sometimes it is impossible to see the details and understand what is going on. That is why literally everyone is taking videos on their phone, including me. See videos for Paris HFW in my Instagram!

What to wear for the New Year’s Eve 2019?

Dear Reader,

For some of you 2018 was a year of success, others met difficulties and obstacles or maybe have not even noticed how it passed. I would like to congratulate you with the end of 2018 and to thank you for supporting and reading me. Now, is the right time to take a break from the work and make a detailed analysis of achieved goals as well as make plans and targets for the next year!

For me, 2018 has been productive and busy year and I am happy to announce that I will be launching new online program “Personal Shopper” in January 2019 for you! In addition, I also do “Live Shopping” with you – all the detailed information will be e-mailed to you upon request info.lenlenstyle@gmail.com. I will be also surprising you with new projects, trainings, consultations and master classes aimed to help you to find yourself in the world of fashion and style.

Moreover, today I would like to talk about the most recent issue – what to wear for the New Year’s Eve in order to look stylish and remarkable?  This question has been probably in your mind for a month now and for those who still in search here is the quick solution from me.

First of all we need to understand where you are planning to meet the New Year. This is the base of your look and it should be appropriate to the situation and place. For instance the attire in-home varies from the corporate or closed party look. Well, let’s see what the fashion world has to offer.

Sequin – is the recent fashion trend that tells us to shine! On the New Years Eve and holidays in any setting would be a great choice. It can be the whole dress or partially, pantsuit embroidered with sequin details and/or ornaments. In case you want to be modest I would recommend adding accessories like handbag and/or shoes decorated with sequins. In any case you will look bright and stylish with sequins.

For those, who like rich and luxurious look, I would recommend – velvet of bright colors. Velvet dress of green or Bordeaux colors will be irresistible and fashionable for the New Year’s Eve!

Long and midi skirts made from silk combined with crop tops and sconces will give a stunning and relaxed image for those, who want to be noticed and feel comfortable at the party. For the nightclub lovers – sequin leggings combined with again crop tops and scones will give you ease and shine that is required for this ambiance.

For those, who consider themselves extraordinary I would recommend dress with ostrich feathers as a part of bottom or finishing for the New Years Celebration. This elegant image will give you a look of a Goddess!

Since the upcoming 2019 is the Year of Earth Pig/Boar, I would suggest natural colors like brown, yellow, terracotta, orange, beige, various shades of coffee, golden colors. However, due to the fact that Chinese New Year will come at the end of January – beginning of February, I would suggest wearing anything you like and want to meet 2019! Please, keep in mind that we are creating the atmosphere, so the mood is the core of the success! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

The best shopping tips or how to shop for clothes!

Dear Reader!

December is the magical time of sales and is the best time to shop. Whether you are renewing and/or adding some special clothes and accessories to you base wardrobe or looking for something specialfor Christmas and New Year Eve. In order to look good you just need to know howto match the cloth from various brands and it does not have to be designers’clothes. Therefore, I have prepared several tips of how to shop best in the inexpensivemass marketing shops like Bershka, Promode, Zara, H&M, New Yorker, etc.  In such shops, on one hand, there are a lot ofthings, and on the other hand, most of them are of the same type and lookcheap.

Mass market segment stores are specialty brand chains that sell a variety of items at affordable prices. They work on the volume and cheapening of the cost of goods/clothes principles. That means that they produce a large number of the same type of things/clothes, where only some details and colors change (in my experience of researching similar stores in different countries, the range is mostly more or less the same). Cheap fabrics, the technology of tailoring and typical patterns of things are used. The stores have a very large assortment of various items, many of which look fashionable, but not of a very high-quality.

So what should be your strategy of shopping in stores of that kind?

1. Define your style and image in advance. Despite the fact that many people do shopping intuitively and spontaneously, you need to go to cheap stores, having thought out your style and image beforehand. You should think about the image, the feelings and understand what impression you want to make on others. Making a list in advance of items you want to buy, including colors, textures and silhouettes will make your life easier.

2. Deselect those things that you should and will not buy in the mass-market stores.

There is a list of things that should not be bought in mass-market stores due to the fact that the manufacturer saves on the cost of things: chooses cheap fabrics, parts and finishes. One of them is the imitation of leather items. Do not buy clothes from faux leather in mass-market stores, unless these are shoes and bags. Shoes and bags can be made of leathersubstitutes, but they must be of some unusual color, shape, form, etc.

Please try to avoid buying brand imitations. For example, alike material with small logos all over the item like in Louis Vuitton or Gucci. Such things are easily  seen as fake and form rather negative opinion about your taste and style.

Belts are almost always mass-produced from leatherette, which is of poor quality. The metal buckle quickly peels off and breaks.

Avoid clothes from synthetic stretching lace and transparent things, through which you can see the underwear.

Clothes and items from shiny materials often look cheap. Keep away from T-shirts with strange inscriptionsor with inscriptions and logos of known and unknown brands. In general, thingswith large logos, even from original boutiques, look pretty cheap. Rememberthat the Dolce & Gabbana lettering on the whole back, straps with largebuckles with the word Gucci emphasize the bad taste.

For a basic wardrobe, a white /black T-shirt is enough; a colored T-shirt immediately makes look cheap. Some more things to pass up: colored hoodies, faded denim miniskirts, leopardcardigans, useless sleeveless cardigans of bright colors that are not quiteclear how and what to wear with, sunglasses (which can also impose vision),colorful plastic bracelets that are in almost every store.

My suggestions: when choosing items in the store, pay attention to their quality. As has been mentioned above, mass-market items manufacturers usually try to choose the cheapest fabrics and accessories. So pay special attention to the quality of clothes: lines should be smooth there must be no thread sticking out of the product there should be no puffs buttons must be intact it is better not to choose things with a large amount of metal trim (zippers, riveting, buttons). Usually, factories choose cheap metal fittings that quickly peel off and break. In case of costume jewelry – no glue or plastic uncut edges should be visible. Some people think that if things are not visible from afar, then the product is suitable. Just because of such details, the whole image looks cheap.

Secrets: Often, manufacturers love to make clothes on elastic band avoiding the customization for the figure. Black elastic black gives a cheap look, so I recommend covering it with a quality belt.

However, usually the mass market produces jeans of a good quality, just try to find the right model for you. Using multilayer can hide the cheapness of things. For example, not a very well-tailored dress looks better with a jacket on top. In case you are wearing individual things (only a dress and shoes for example), they should be made of high-quality fabric and fit you perfectly.

The bigger the size, the greater the risk of looking cheap in mass-market things, because things don’t hold big shapes well. Mature women should be more attentive when shopping at mass market stores. It is a fact that in youth the carelessness and untidiness of a girl is forgiven and no longer permissible for an elegant adult woman. Stay warm, choose wisely, and be stylish!

How to dress to look slimmer?

Dear Reader,

Christmas is in the air and most of you, including me, have forgotten about their discipline and diet due to the magic vibes and sweet and merry mood! Winter is the time when body urges to keep warmth and due to the cold weather, there is no wish and consequently time of going to the gym. The fight between brain and natural instincts take place. Knowing that any woman would like to lose a few pounds/kilograms and look slimmer than now. However, there is no time for it and  I have decided to share with you the secret formula of how to look slimmer without dieting and fitness, just by choosing the right clothes!

Today, I will convey the most common mistakes that we all do when we want to look slimmer. The first is that we strongly believe that wearing black will make us look slimmer and hide extra pounds/kilograms that we have gained. The problem here is that dress in black all the time makes you look gloomy, boring and too serious.

The second mistake is to wear oversized, unisex clothes with no particular shape. You might think that the more voluminous the clothes are, the more it covers your body and therefore the slimmer you seem. However, it actually works the opposite way – a woman wearing clothes that do not fit in size loses the shape and rather looks like a piano covered by a veil).

The third mistake is avoiding experimenting and dressing only in basic and very simple things. That represents that you are afraid of everything that is fashionable and bright. I can assure you that understanding of how to match the colors and styles will help you to hide extra pounds by wearing bright clothes and accessories. I strongly believe that each woman with any type of the figure is beautiful.  Moreover, it is an art to understand and to know how to properly shape your figure.

The main rule is how to look slimmer is to remember the most important rule of all European stylists – “camouflage technique”. Using this approach means not to close yourself with black voluminous things when you are not visible in them, but to disguise what you do not like in the figure and transfer the focus to your merits.

How does this technique work? Firstly, we need to identify those parts of the body that seem to be imperfect to you. Most likely you have a long list and know the answer to this question. Contrary, we need to determine your strengths. That might seem like a more difficult task. I would suggest emphasizing on those parts of your body that seem beautiful to you. For example, this can be hair, legs, wrists, hands, legs, hips, breast, waist, etc. So, when choosing what to wear choose darker colors and shades for the voluminous parts of the body. I would suggest selecting from black, dark blue, dark brown, dark gray, etc. Contrary, on those parts of your body that are your virtues, you will put on clothes and accessories with prints and patterns of a bright color.

Basic and simple things should be a part of your silhouette and design on those parts of your body that you feel are uncomfortable with and fashionable and original clothes will highlight your merits. This way, you will avoid the look of a gray boring mouse, present your body in a winning way and be perceived as fashionable and modern woman.

For example, for those with big hips, but beautiful breast, I would recommend wearing a simple black A-line skirt and a striped top. Complete your look with a red jacket and necklace. That way you will divert attention from the hips to the top of your figure and show off a beautiful chest.

In case you have beautiful legs, but broad shoulders – wear a black long-sleeve base top and a bright and stripe midi skirt. All attention will be focused on the legs and the unusual skirt. Noone will notice the problem shoulders.

If you desire to hide your belly and you have slender legs – put on a black simple tunic-dress on unusual pants with a bright print. By covering the belly and visually making it slimmer the focus will fall on slender legs.

In cases when you do not like anything in yourself – you can make accessories as a focal point. I suggest going for the bright and fashionable accessories that will lead the eye away from your figure – an unusual scarf, original earrings, designer bracelet, bright red gloves, and shoes with laces.
