September in New York is an international fashion haven. You have people from all over the world coming to New York City for Fashion Week. Bloggers, influencers, celebrities, and the lucky few commoners (us) who get to snag a few tickets to the hottest shows are all in one place, walking the streets of New York. It is not only the time to see the hottest new collection but it is also an opportunity to see the unspoken competition between designers to see who has the hottest location and who has the most top models walking in their show.
Besides the obvious Kendall Jenner, and Bella and Gigi Hadid, a new face in town has taken over the catwalk, Kaia Gerber. Being the daughter of Cindy Crawford certainly doesn’t hurt her stardom and beauty, but she really stood her own in this season’s fashion weeks. She walked 12 shows in New York alone and countless more in London, Milan, and now Paris. These four cities are referred to as the “Big Four”in the fashion industry. The fashion “week” season starts in New York on September 7th and then continues through out the month in the remaining three cities, ending in Paris on October 3rd.
This seasons collections were one of the best that I’ve seen in a while. Many brands showcased their work through theatrical performances and live experiences rather than just having the audience sit in rows and watch the models aimlessly walking down the runway. The shows took place in Cathedrals, abandoned warehouses, gardens and more.
I would recommend going on Vogue or Harper’s Bazaar website to see some collections from this Fashion Week! My favorite were Dior, Prada, and Dries Van Notten so be sure to look out for those J
