Moscow: 2018 FIFA World Cup

Moscow: 2018 FIFA World Cup

Happy Sunday, dear Readers,

You might be at home spending a great relaxing day with your family and/or preparing to watch the best sport event of this summer that is coming to its culmination today, while reading this post, so am I. Moscow/Moskva, the capital of Russia and the main host city for the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018 (21stFIFA World Cup) is ready for the Finals! The most populous and largest city of Russia with about 17.1 million people with the urban area is having another million of visitors. In addition, many Presidents, ministers and high-ranking officials from all around the world will attend Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium today on July 15th to enjoy the closing event and to find out who is the Champion – France or Croatia!

Russia has been the most desirable world’s travel destination in June and July of 2018 in gratitude to an international football (soccer) tournament. Every four years 32 (from 5 confederations) men’s national teams of the member associations of FIFA compete. This World Cup was the 1st held in Eastern Europe(11th time in Europe). Moreover, the tournament tookplace on two continents for the 1st time – Europe and Asia. 12 venues in 11 host cities in Russia have served as the platform for the matches from the 14th of June – 15th of July. There has been 63 matches played and 163 goals were scored, which is 2.6 per game. The overall attendance is close to 3 million people, that is about 47 000 per match. The cost of the event was estimated at over $14.2 billion and it is one of the most expensive World Cup ever. In addition, it was the first World Cup to use video assistant referees (VARs). Although Russian team is not in the top 4 (Belgium -3rd, England – 4th), I am proud of my country and team, they have put all their energy, passion, mastery and heart into the game. It is the best World Cup for Russian Team!

Based on the authority, FIFA vice-president Victor Montaliani acknowledged that Russia has set a high bar for the hosts of the following tournaments. Ahead of the organizing committee of the World Cup, which will be held in Qatar in 2022, said in an interview with RT that the 2018 World Cup was perfectly organized!

So despite all the critics, negative predictions and image of Russia and Russian people this event has been a true transformation of people’s minds. Openness and hospitality of Russian people, high level of the organization, passion, and love for football (soccer) game has contributed to the fantastic outcomes and reviews. We might not be the 1st one yet, but we are on the way to reach our dreams. Russia made this celebration joyful and meaningful for every guest. Clean, welcoming Moskva transformed from cold country’s image into a warm family place where all the people accept and love each other!
